About the Artist

I'm Carol Metzger, a multimedia artist working mainly in paper and textiles. My current focus is divided between needlepoint/embroidery and decoupage on boxes. My box designs include found objects, hardware, and upcycled stuff. I also make digital paintings, but recent art is more physical objects and paint.

I have been an artist all my life. I established CFM Designs in the mid-1990’s. Under that banner, I have worked in Graphic Design, Fine Art, and Fine Craft, as well as teaching art and craft. I have also published a few knitting patterns.

More Than 30 Years of Experience in Art and Design

Artist Statement

As a woman and an artist, I am committed to discovering and expressing the truth in my life and art. In doing so, I'll be able to make a difference in the lives of others.

I've been an artist my whole life, and I will try to make art out of anything. Most of what I do are pigment and digital art, fiber and needlework, and utility and decorative art.

I especially love combining colors, textures, and materials in unexpected ways. Textiles offer a variety of media and methods for such exploration.

Gallery

My most recent work has been decorating wooden boxes for sale at conventions. Some are specifically fitted with inserts for fountain pens, another of my interests. In between boxes and graphic design works, I do  needlepoint for pleasure.

New works will be uploaded as they become available. Meanwhile, browse my site to see my past projects.
